Mountain Cleft is a strato volcano (cone), with an altitude of 3371 m above sea level. The mountain is located in Wonosobo regency, precisely in the Waterford area, Central Java. Peak condition consists of a rock cliff towering and often found surrounding the crater - a small crater that emit sulfur smoke. Cleft Peak Mountain consists of two peaks, Peak Buntu, with an altitude of 3362 m above sea level and the summit crater, with a height of 3372 m above sea level.
Cleft Mountain Slopes is one of the areas prone to landslides because it is too broad exploited their land to farm tobacco and vegetables - veggies. According to conservation experts from the slopes of Mount Cleft GMU has the highest erosion rates among the mountains around him so that when we climb this mountain will be visible as far as the eye could see nearly half of the mountain slope has an area of fields.
To reach the summit of Mount Cleft there is one main route is through the village of Need, Village Garung, Wonosobo. Garung Village is a village located on the right foot and left Sumbing Sindoro slopes of Mt. The villagers are mostly earns a meager living by farming. The number of villagers Garung not too much but it looks very prosperous.
Garung Village (1543 m asl) is the last village to the summit of Mount Cleft, can be easily accomplished because of the location through which the bus lane / minibus from Magelang direction toward the Wonosobo or vice versa.
From Magelang majors we took the bus to Wonosobo Wonosobo and down before the city about 16 km, exactly at the Village Gate Garung (Market Reco). To reach the road leading to the summit ascent of Mount Cleft of the Village Gate Garung Need we go to the village through the rocky road, approximately 0.5 hours by foot or ride motorcycles.
After reaching the village of Need, we report on the pack Zamroni, Kamituwo this village to ask permission to climb to Mount Cleft. Old Path
From the village of Need, we continue the journey toward the border between the forest with its distance field about 4.5 km from the village takes, then we will arrive at Boswisen. In Boswisen have a small river, when the rainy season there is water and can we use for cooking and drinking purposes.
Having reached the Boswisen journey we continue towards the junction, called the Mount of Genus, about 2 hours through the climb - climb that is quite tiring. Having reached the Mount of Genus we can rest a little while enjoying the scenery because the location is fairly flat, then we continue the journey again through many steep incline toward Pestan or Satan Market (2437 m asl), during 2 hours of travel. Ascent of the most crowded in August - September. According to data in the book climbing on Village Head climbers every year to reach 5,000 people. New Line
If we want to pass a new route from Kampong Need we headed to the region west Boswisen which takes 2 hours drive, passing through rocky and uphill road. Boswisen is the boundary fields and pine forests and there is a cottage belonging PERHUTANI who is Pos I. This post could be used for overnight if we do not spend the night in the village and in the morning we continue the journey.
From the post I continue our journey toward the post called Post Gatakan II, about 3 km. From the second post of our journey continue to meet the T-junction, which is a meeting of old and new path route, approximately 1-1.5 hours. We continue the journey onward through the long lane leading to the top.
