BRIDGE Suramadu (Surabaya - Madura)

Finally finished a huge project that has already been waiting for residents of Surabaya and Madura. Bridge connecting the island of Java with Madura Island along the 5438 meter has to be passed. Bridge was inaugurated by President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono on June 10, 2009. On that occasion, Yudhoyono told the Governor of East Java for the construction of this Bridge can accelerate development in East Java. The ceremony was held at the foot of the bridge side of the island of Madura, in the village of West Sukolilo, District Labang, Bangkalan.

On June 13, 2009 at 13:00, PT. Jasa Marga opened the toll lane Bridge to the general public. The trial period was announced for three days until June 17, 2009. During that time people did not pass through toll charges. Unlike other toll road concept, then at Bridge motorcycle is allowed to cross the toll lane. However, PT. Responding to the amount of wind power around the Bridge, Chief Executive National Road Central Region V, AG Ismail, explained that currently the Directorate General (DG) of Highways is preparing an early warning system that accompanied and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) on wind speed.

"Later, when wind speeds reach 30 kilometers per hour, two-wheeled vehicles are warned when going into the bridge, when the wind was 40 miles per hour then the motor should not be crossed, while the cars will be prohibited when wind speeds reach 65 kilometers per hour," he said .
