Merdeka Palace
Merdeka Palace is the official place of residence and office of the President of Indonesia, which lies a complex with the State Palace and Bina Graha. Its location overlooking the Park National Monument (Monas), Jalan Medan Merdeka Utara, Jakarta. Palace with an area of 2,400 m² was built in the reign of Governor-General JW van Lansberge of 1873 in the same plot with the Palace Rijswijk which began heaving. Originally named the Palace of Gambir, Drossaers diarsiteki Palace which is at the beginning of the reign of the Republic of Indonesia (RI), happened to witness the signing of the history of the recognition of sovereignty of the Republic of Indonesia (RIS) by the Dutch Government on December 27, 1949. At that time, Indonesia was represented by Sri Sultan Hamengkubuwono IX, while the Dutch kingdom was represented AHJ Lovink, high representative in Indonesia, the Dutch crown. In a touching ceremony the Dutch flag was lowered and the flag of Indonesia raised to the sky blue.
