The front shield is decorated with carvings, but now is mostly decorated with paintings that use black and white or red and white. Motifs used to decorate the shield consists of three basic motifs:
1. Motif hornbills (Necklace Tebengaang)
2. Motif Dragon / Dog (Necklace Aso ')
3. Motif Masks (Udo Necklace ')
In addition as a means of personal protection from enemy attacks, the shield also serves as:
- Tool rescue when fire / protect themselves from flames
- Supplies to dance in dance war
- Tools to arbitrate fights
- Equipment for the ceremony Belian
Now the shields are sold as souvenirs / decorate household decor.
