Cave Selomangleng
Selomangleg Cave is a popular tourist attraction in Mojoroto, Kediri District. Named Selomangleng due to its location on the slopes of the hill (Java => Selo = Stone, Mangleng = Lean), approximately 40 meters from the lowest ground in the region. This cave is formed of black andesite stone that is large enough, so that seems quite striking from a distance. At first glance there is nothing special in this stone cave, a new unique look so close to the door of the cave. A few yards below the mouth of the cave there are a few scattered boulders. Some of them are sculptured, indicating that this place has never touched human. Various shades of relief menghiasai outer wall of the cave, some of which are in human form.
Peered into the cave, the atmosphere was dark and the smell of incense is enough sting came to greet visitors. Not surprisingly, there are some visitors who are afraid or think long before deciding to enter it. Mystical feel very strong impression remains to be inside. Some visitors seemed to rush out not long after entering the room because, due to not strong with the stinging smell of incense. Cave made of andesite makes it waterproof. Stalactite and stalagmite No commonly found in natural caves. There are three rooms in the cave, the entrance we will arrive at the main ruanagan that is not so wide with a small door on the left and right to go to another room of the cave.
Inside the cave was found a lot of relief that decorate the walls of the cave. Additional lighting needed to be able to see it clearly. I myself use a light beam from an accidental cell phone can function as a lamp lighting (flashlight). On the bottom floor so many offerings found in the flowers red and yellow is still fresh. A sign that this place quite often used to exile, imprisoned or tirakat for a particular society.
Entering the room to the left of the entrance of the cave, visitors must crawl slightly due to the size of the door is quite small. When trying to enter the room, practically there is increasingly little light due to the lack of lighting in the space. Plus a small room with a low roof so that the impression of a narrow and claustrophobic atmosphere dominates the room. Difficult times to see what is in the room. When trying to trace the walls of the cave with illumination from mobile phones, then seen that the inside of the cave also has reliefs that match the exterior of the cave.
Unlike the left chamber of the cave, on the right side of the cave, there is a relief on top of any part of the entrance. Similar to the relief that often adorn the top of the temple entrance. The room is slightly wider than the left side. On the wall of the cave, there are parts that stand out with a small inlet underneath, forming the furnace. A stick of incense is still burning appears to be inside the furnace, stinging smell that meet throughout the room. Relief-rleief that there can still be seen quite clearly to be enjoyed.
From the story went, Cave Selomangleng once used by Goddard Kilisuci as a place of hermitage. Kilisuci Goddess is the daughter of the crown of King Erland who refused to accept tahata inherited the kingdom to him, and prefer to distance themselves from the life of the world by doing Tapa brata in Cave Selomangleng.
Apart from the dark and pengapnya atmosphere in the cave, a tourist attraction worth visiting Cave Selomangleng when you're in Kediri. Not far from the location of this cave there is also archaeological museum can be visited and save a lot of archaeological objects in the form of sculptures / statues.
