Temple Bangkal
In between the field / garden of a resident, the location of this temple is easily visited Bangkal because it's not far from the village roads are still impassable four-wheel vehicles. A cement path connects the entrances of the temple Bangkal object with the village street. Had one taken the road when trying to find the location of this temple, because there is a general map / sold in bookstores, do not give the exact location. Fortunately, the unique shape and height with the dominant red color makes it look pretty obvious among green fields and trees from a distance.
The condition of the temple which is located in the village of Kambangsari, District Ngoro, Mojokerto regency was already severely damaged. Red brick which is the main constituent material of the temple is visible from much of eroded / cut / chipped in some corners. Despite this overall shape of this temple is still quite clearly visible only at the top, it seems no longer intact may have collapsed before. Reliefs that are at the foot of the temple wall can still be seen quite clearly, and also several statues banaspati exist in the body wall of the temple still seems stuck in place. In total there are six statues banaspati with 3 at the entrance (west), and each one fruit on the other sides.
On the inside of the temple, which is in the middle it still plastered reliefs Batara Surya, riding a horse. Relief is reminding me of the similar relief I have ever seen in Jawi Temple and the Temple of Clown. An interesting thing to remember Candi Jawi and Temple Clowns composed of andesite, in contrast with Candi Bangkal composed of red brick, but the second temple has a "theme" on the same upper-middle-in temple.
West side of the face or part of this temple there is still a pile of bricks that was once expected to be part of the temple gate Bangkal. While the north side of this temple there are a number of scattered andesite with specific forms. The possibility of the andesite is estimated to be part of the decoration and temples.
Bangkal temple could have been built between the 13th and 14 centuries AD, where at that time there was a shift kekukasaan from the central to eastern Java Java, along with the dominant power in the century Majapahit. Like most other temples, Temple Bangkal have symmetrical patterns in architecture. The form is slender and tall are characteristic of the temples in East Java, in contrast to the temple in Central Java, which although had the same pattern
symmetrical but has a more fat. Tall and slender form that is causing the temples in East Java are highly vulnerable from collapse when an earthquake. Bangkal Temple and other temples (Temple Ngetos, Sawentar and Sumberjati) is estimated to have high but the roof has collapsed due to earthquakes.
Being in the field / garden punduduk, appears to make this archaeological objects devoid of traffic. Some seem cool to graze goats not far from the temple, while the muddy bottom of the temple because of stagnant water further reduces the desire to try to close the temple. A wasp nest at the top of the temple entrance is increasingly clear that this temple was relatively rarely visited by tourists.
