Unless Lake Maninjau, there are four other lakes in the District of Solok. Therefore, Solok district that is rich with lakes in West Sumatra. In fact, three of the lake, namely Lake Above, Below Lake, and Lake Gutters is located in an area known as Twin Lakes Area.

Called the Twin Lakes Area, because the two lakes, namely Lake Above and Below Lake is located adjacent the distance is only about 300 meters. This area used to be known more as a tourist attraction because it is located on the edge of the road the Padang-Muaralabuh-Kerinci.

While Lake Talang located approximately 4.5 km from the lake. Its location is situated at the waist of Mount Talang and far from the highway makes this lake has also been known as a tourist attraction. Unfortunately the eruption of Mount Talang in the last three years to make this lake could not be visited, because it is still a forbidden area to get there.

Despite having three of this volcanic lake, named the area of Solok District, located in Lembang Jaya subdistrict and district Gumanti Valley as the Twin Lakes Area Tourism. The area is currently being developed as a tourist attraction mainstay. Not just a tourist attraction mainstay Solok, West Sumatra even mainstay.

To reach this area is very easy. From Padang intercity bus we can ride in the province toward Alahan Length or Muaralabuh.

Distance 60 km applied for 1.5 hours with the winding road. On the way we can see the location of PT Semen Padang Factory which is the oldest cement factory in Sumatra and the expanse of tea plantations PT PTPN VI Danau Twins. If the trips taken by private vehicle, only about one hour.

Scenery Along the Way
Towards arrived at the location of the air will feel cold and we already can see the lake over to the right of the car window. If the public bus we had to alight at Pasar Simpang. Here there are two intersections, intersections on the right with a declining path over the road to the lake, where the lake is clearly visible because it is under.

While other intersection in the left is a road to climb. Under this road towards Lake. Name the two lakes are in contradiction with this location, often make visitors ask why the lake is situated on a hill called the Lake Below, whereas under the hill or under a street called Lake Above. That's because although situated on a hill, the water surface elevation of Lake Under the same height with the bottom of the lake Lake Above.

Above the lake with an area of 17.20 square kilometers, the length of 6.25 km and width 2.75 km, surface water is located at an altitude of 1600 meters above sea level (asl). The lake is quite shallow, with the deepest part is only 44 meters.

While the water level is at an altitude of Lake Below 1566 masl. This means that the water surface level with the bottom of the water of Lake Above. However, the lake has an area of 16.90 square kilometers, the length of 5.62 km and 3.00 km wide is very deep, which is 886 meters.

Can not Round Lake Under
Around the ship can not we enjoy in the Lake Below. The lake is surrounded by a large hill and the lake is very far from the location scenery built by the government. Unlike in Lake Above, we can not touch your hands or feet into the water. It's just beautiful scenery. From this panorama, we can also see Lake Above.

In the panorama of Lake Above this there are small shops selling dutch passion and eggplant as fruits typical of this region. Also there that sells a variety of mountain flowers in pots small to large. There is also a mountain sari sells dried flowers for decoration.
