Samalona Island is a small island with a cluster of circular-shaped coral island with an area of 2.34 hectares in the Makassar Strait. Precisely Samalona Island on the southwest coast of western South Sulawesi.
Administratively, this island including the city of Makassar, South Sulawesi. The position is more precisely located on the west district Wajo, Makassar, is about 2 km and can be seen clearly from the township.
Samalona Island is one of 11 islands in the city of Makassar. The island is very famous as a place to snorkel and dive. Sea coral islands scattered around the garden beneath the sea forming a very beautiful with a variety of colorful fish.
To reach this island could use a fishing boat (boat with outboard engine) and requires a travel time of no more than 0.5 hours. On this island stands a lighthouse that is used as a sign of land boundary for big ships.
Samalona are islands that can be seen clearly from Fort Rotterdam in the area Keling - Makassar. Mandalika just 500 meters from the edge of the cliff Fort Rotterdam.
