Golden Dome Mosque in Kota Depok


Masjid Dian Al Mahri or better known as the Golden Dome Mosque in Jalan Maruyung highway, Kel. Meruyung, Kecamatan Limo, Depok. This grand mosque with a capacity of 20 thousand pilgrims stood firm on an area of 70 hectares. This mosque was built April 1999 by a philanthropist, a businessman from Banten named Hj Dian Juriah Maimun Al Rashid, wife of Drs H. Maimun Al Rashid, who bought the land area since 1996. The plan, in addition to the mosque, this land will be used as the Islamic Centre. Later there will be a missionary institute, and residential units. All the buildings were part of an integrated area development concept that is named Area Islamic Center Dian Al-Mahri.

Masjid Dian Al Mahri opened to the public on December 31, 2006, to coincide with Eid al-Adha 1427 H is the second time that year. Its construction has been going on since 1999, but was only opened to the public on December 31, 2006. After Eid prayers, the owner of this mosque mosque inaugurated direct. The main room mosque has a size of 45 × 57 meters, can accommodate about 8,000 worshipers. This mosque has six minarets shaped hexagon with height of 40 meters. 6 minarets is clad in gray granite from italy with a circular ornament. At the height of the dome minarets are 24 carat gold-plated mosaic.
This refers to the dome of the mosque dome that used the mosques of Persia and India. Five dome symbolizes the pillars of Islam, is entirely clad in 24 carat gold-plated mosaic of materials imported from Italy.

In the vaulted ceilings are painting the sky that color can be changed according to the color of the sky in prayer times using a lighting technology which is programmed with a computer.

The interior of this mosque shows the pillars towering high to create a grand-scale space. Monochrome color space dominated mosque with the main elements of a cream color, to give the character a quiet and warm room. Material made of marble imported from Turkey and Italy. In the middle of the room, hanging lamps made of brass plated gold weighing 2.7 tons, which is done by experts from Italy.

Gold at the Masjid Dian Al Mahri

The mosque is called the Golden Dome Mosque, as the name of this mosque was used with 3 gold material installation techniques: first, gold powder (leaf) attached to the crown / pillar, both gold plating found on chandeliers, ralling mezanin stairs, fences mezanin , ornaments calligraphy sentence beads at the top of the ceiling dome and decorative ornaments above the pulpit the mihrab, the third contained a solid gold mosaics in the main dome and the dome of the tower.

The mosque is open to the public, however there are some parts that must remain sterile as minarets. Meanwhile on Sunday, the number of visitors usually reached 10 thousand people. While on a typical day, the number of pilgrims is not too much.

Visitors and out of the mosque free, however there are some rules that must be adhered to for the atmosphere of worship remain comfortable. For example, visitors are prohibited from bringing food and drinks to the neighborhood mosque. Children under 9 years of age are also prohibited from entering the neighborhood mosque.

To get into the mosque, are required to wear clothing that covers the genitalia, so if you visit there, especially the womenfolk have to wear a headscarf. Footwear / sandals must be deposited into the safe keeping, and should not be left outside. Footwear daycare during the hours of prayer becomes very crowded and full. By day the courtyard outside the front of the mosque floor was very hot but the mosque provide plastic carpet to reduce the heat of the courtyard floor. Visitors are prohibited from stepping on the grass in the park around the mosque. For visitors who want to take shelter and just rest, opposite the mosque is a versatile space provided. Usually the visitors held a mat in this versatile space while admiring the beauty of this mosque.

Route Toward the Golden Dome Mosque

Roads that are easier and not meander to go to the Golden Dome Mosque better through RS Fatmawati. From the direction of incoming toll-way to the Jakarta Pondok Indah and out Fatmawati and turn left, if not pass TB Simatupang toll follow the road to turn left RS Fatmawati. Then follow the road, through two red lights to Pondok Labu market and reach the campus UPN, then take the right direction.
